We are off now together to Αρχιεπισκοπή (gr., Archbishop's Palace). Around this complex there is a complex of museums, namely: Byzantine Museum, Folk Art Museum and Museum Of Struggle (Museum of the History of the Struggle Against the Turkish Invasion).

Entrance to Byzantine Museum
Here is the entrance to the Byzantine Museum. The museum has a very impressive collection of icons. On the first floor the space is separated by high partitions (almost reaching the ceiling), on which the icons are placed in several rows. The temperature regime in spite of the Cypriot weather is kept within the normal limits. Taking photographs is unfortunately forbidden, but I made a couple of pictures for you. On the second floor there is a collection of paintings by Cypriot artists of the 18-20th centuries.

Icon depicting the doubled image of Virgin Mary with Christ
Speaking about my personal impressions, I discovered for myself a new iconography of the Mother of God with the Child, who is depicted twice, looking in opposite directions. Each of these types has a certain name which, unfortunately, I could not remember, and I could not take a picture. Nevertheless, I want to share with my readers some photos of a wonderful courtyard at the exit from the museum.
The view from exit
The museum offers guided tours in French, English and German. Inside the museum and near the ticket desk there is a museum shop in which, besides souvenirs, there are scientific literature on Byzantine studies.
